What is a podcast? Think information or entertainment on demand. It's audio and video files, available over the Internet, which you can download onto a portable device for when you have time to listen or watch.
Why is it called a podcast? Podcast is derived from two words: "iPod" (Apple's portable mp3 player) and "broadcast". But you can use any mp3 player. It doesn't have to be an "iPod".
I want to listen to your podcast now. What do I need? To listen to the podcast on your computer, you can use the Flash Player. Just remember to turn up your volume.
Should I subscribe? Subscribing to ANZ podcasts is free and allows you to connect to the podcasts as soon as they are available, without having to come to the home page and download them. You can then listen either online or off-line through a portable device, whenever and wherever it's convenient. A lot of people listen when they are commuting to and from work.
What do I need to be able to subscribe to a podcast? All you need is a computer with Internet connection, which you obviously have because you're reading this. There is also software to install but it is really quick. For "iTune" software, just go to the "Advanced" menu and choose "Subscribe to podcast" and follow the instructions. To listen to the podcast, you'll need an mp3 player or any computer with audio playing software. Don't forget to turn up the volume.
Should I download a podcast? We suggest that you subscribe to the ANZ podcast or listen to it with the Flash Player. The file size is large so downloading can take some time. To download the podcast, just click the link indicated. Once downloaded, the file can then be transferred to a portable player of played on your computer in the normal way.
Is there any cost? No, it's free.
Experiencing any problems? It is likely that the problem will be with the podcasting application, so first look at the relevant Help section. You could then delete the podcast feed and re-subscribe to the service. If that doesn't work, then try installing another podcasting application.
I can't hear anything on my computer. You need to have a media player on your computer, like Windows Media Player, Real Player or iTunes. Ensure your volume is turned up and that any speakers or headphones are properly connected.
I have a Mac. We still recommend subscribing to ANZ podcasts or using the Flash Player option. As mentioned above, we discourage downloading. However, you can download by holding down the Control key on your keyboard and clicking on the mp3 link. One of the menu options is "Download link to disk" or "Download Linked File." This allows you to save the podcast to any folder you choose.
